The Studio

Private one to one, Duets and Trio’s are taught, in the fully equipped studio, in Narberth, Wales.

One to one Sessions are tailored to suit the individual requirements of the client.
This especially suits a beginner to the Classical Method, or someone with a specific issue, which can include, back issues, such as, sciatica, sacroiliac dysfunction, knee and shoulder complication and post-natal weakness. The client can enjoy one to one attention in the privacy of our comfortable studio and can be assured of the best possible treatment and instruction.

However, many of our clients are uninjured, very fit individuals, who either run, cycle etc and play sports. They love to have a tailored one to one on the apparatus to work on their imbalances and improve their, stamina, strength, core stability, balance and posture, which as a result, enhances their personal activities.

An initial assessment is recommended before a new client commences, this introduces the Classical Pilates Method, which will both inform and prepare the client for group mat work classes. This takes an hour and will normally start with a talk about the contents of your Health Questionnaire, where further information may be uncovered as to the possible reasons for any issues or restrictions you may have.

This will be followed by a body analysis in front of the mirrored wall, when you may discover you are not as straight as you may have thought, but don't worry! Pilates will be just the thing you need to bring your body back into alignment, so it can work efficiently and without pain.

A workout will then be taught on the apparatus and mat, this will discover any strengths and weaknesses you may have. A homework plan is given for you to practise at home.

We do not profess to make miracles - We just apply the Classical Pilates Method to the client, and this has proven time and time again that Joseph Pilates got it right.

In some cases,  after an initial assessment, the client may be able to join a group mat class, or we may jointly decide that further one to one sessions at the studio are the preferred route prior to joining group classes.

Studio equipment includes Reformers, Cadillac, Wunda Chairs, High Chair, Barrels, Ladder Barrel, Ped o pull, Foot Correctors, Magic circles, Weights, Mats, Poles, Toe correctors, Push up bars

I couldn't live without Pilates now. A real investment for the future. Rebecca is a fantastic teacher. She looks like a little delicate elfin fairy but don't be deceived!!! "Tuck that bottom under!!" " Breathe!" "Let's do another set!!!" " Remember everything comes from the core!!!.....There....... wasn't that lovely" (!) OMG but the results have been wonderful....... And she makes it fun.... actually!

Rebecca Leary

Classical Pilates Instructor

I underwent major surgery on my aorta

Almost two years ago, at the age of 84, I underwent major surgery on my aorta. Before the operation, I had been fit and well, but the side effects included severe swelling of my legs. The stress on my spine caused by pulling compression stockings on and off by myself caused cramps that stopped me walking more than a few yards, and thus I stopped driving.

Advice from several specialists did not help, but my daughter (a nurse) told me about Classical Pilates, and she identified Rebecca Leary’s practice at Narberth. I have been attending a one to one class once and sometimes twice a week there, for several months. Results thus far are, I have regained my abilities to walk and drive. Friends and family tell me that my posture has improved.
